Parfois des nouvelles nous parviennent, jamais très bonnes. Ou alors c’est pour nous parler des baobabs ou des lémuriens, ces petits singes natifs de l’île. Mais qu’en est-il des habitants et de la culture de ce pays qui survit malgré les difficultés du quotidien ? Pour réponse, je donne la parole à des écrivains, à des poètes, à des slameurs, à des auteurs de BD, à des créateurs encore trop méconnus. À partir de leur travail, de leur création et de leurs regards se dessine un état des lieux de la Grande Île. Terre rouge de latérite et parfois de sang, « L’Île Rouge mot à mot » est une invitation à un double voyage. D’abord dans l’imaginaire des auteurs, des artistes, puis dans l’espace citadin ou rural qui fait leur quotidien. Madagascar, ce n’est pas seulement des lémuriens, des baobabs ou de la misère. C’est aussi des créateurs qui s’affirment malgré les difficultés endémiques du pays.\nSynopsis (EN): Madagascar, an island in the Indian Ocean, a former French colony, but who still remembers it? Sometimes news comes in, never very good. Or maybe it’s to tell us about baobabs or lemurs, the little monkeys native to the island. But what about the people and culture of this country that survives despite the difficulties of daily life? In response, I give the floor to writers, poets, slammers, comic book authors and creators who are still too little known. From their work, their creation and their perspectives, an overview of the situation on the Big Island emerges. A red earth of laterite and sometimes blood, « The Red Island word for word » is an invitation to a double journey. First in the imaginations of authors and artists, then in the urban or rural space that makes up their daily lives. Madagascar is not only lemurs, baobabs or poverty. They are also creators who are asserting themselves despite the country’s endemic difficulties.\n
