Inspiré par les expériences de son enfance, marquées par des cérémonies réservées aux femmes et des photos de famille prises entre les années 1950 et 1970, le film recrée la préparation spirituelle et rituelle d’une femme. Tissant un récit onirique, il mêle les rituels et cérémonies issus de l’héritage indien kenyan à diverses cultures kenyanes. Le film célèbre le caractère sacré de la communauté, créant un espace où les femmes s’expriment librement à travers des rituels, des chants et des danses. « Temple Road » est à la fois un hommage au passé et un appel au respect des femmes au Kenya dans un contexte de violence croissante à leur égard: porteuses de culture, de tradition et de vie, elles sont les piliers de la société.\n“Temple Road” is a journey into the heart of femininity, named after the road leading to the temple in the filmmaker’s hometown of Nyeri, Kenya.
