Synopsis (FR) : <\/b>Halima, une m\u00e8re c\u00e9libataire vivant dans une communaut\u00e9 \u00e9troitement li\u00e9e d’Afrique de l’Est \u00e0 Calgary, se retrouve dans une situation pr\u00e9caire lorsqu’elle prend une d\u00e9cision de derni\u00e8re minute pour emp\u00eacher le voyage de sa fille de 13 ans, Salama, au Kenya afin d’\u00eatre circoncise. Halima sait que son choix de braver la tradition peut tout lui co\u00fbter : sa communaut\u00e9, sa r\u00e9putation et son mode de vie. Une fois que la relation secr\u00e8te de Salama est r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9e par Neema, la Grande Dame de la communaut\u00e9, Halima est contrainte de demander la chose m\u00eame \u00e0 laquelle elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 conditionn\u00e9e \u00e0 ignorer : l’autonomie et la lib\u00e9ration sexuelle pour sa fille et elle-m\u00eame.<\/span><\/p>\n

Synopsis (EN): <\/b>Halima, a single mother living in a close-knit East African community in Calgary, is thrust into a precarious situation when she makes a last-minute decision to stop her 13-year-old daughter Salama’s trip back to Kenya to be circumcised. Halima knows that her choice to flout tradition may cost her everything: her community, reputation, and way of life. Once Salama’s secret relationship is exposed by Neema, the Grande Dame of the community, Halima is forced to demand the very thing that she has been conditioned to disregard: autonomy and sexual liberation for her daughter and herself.<\/span><\/p>\n
