REDISCOVERING FANON renouvelle l’h\u00e9ritage de Frantz Fanon, psychiatre r\u00e9volutionnaire et psychanalyste de l’oppression coloniale au XXe si\u00e8cle, en explorant la pertinence actuelle de ses id\u00e9es dans le contexte du racisme am\u00e9ricain au XXIe si\u00e8cle. Le film examine les tragiques fusillades de Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Walter Scott, Philando Castile et le meurtre de George Floyd, soulignant les r\u00e9flexions de Fanon sur le danger que courent les Noirs dans un contexte de racisme anti-Noirs. L’analyse de Fanon va au-del\u00e0 de l’impact imm\u00e9diat sur la vie des Noirs et des \u00ab autres \u00bb, explorant le traumatisme psychologique que le racisme syst\u00e9mique inflige \u00e0 la fois aux opprim\u00e9s et aux privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s, aux Noirs et aux Blancs. Le cin\u00e9aste Lewis Gordon est le narrateur principal du film, tandis que la psychanalyste Alice Cherki, qui \u00e9tait l’interne de Fanon \u00e0 l’h\u00f4pital de Blida en Alg\u00e9rie dans les ann\u00e9es 1950, offre des souvenirs poignants de ces ann\u00e9es pass\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n

REDISCOVERING FANON renews the legacy of Frantz Fanon, revolutionary psychiatrist and psychoanalyst of colonial oppression in the 20th century, by exploring the current relevance of his ideas in the context of American racism in the 21st century. The film examines the tragic shootings of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Walter Scott, Philando Castile, and the murder of George Floyd, highlighting Fanon’s reflections on the danger Black people face in the context of anti-Black racism. Fanon’s analysis goes beyond the immediate impact on the lives of Black people and \u201cothers,\u201d exploring the psychological trauma that systemic racism inflicts on both the oppressed and the privileged, Black and white alike. Filmmaker Lewis Gordon is the film’s main narrator, while psychoanalyst Alice Cherki, who was Fanon’s intern at the Blida Hospital in Algeria in the 1950s, offers poignant memories of those years.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
