Synopsis (FR) : « Si txuba ka bem, morri di fomi, si txuba bem, morri fogadu” (s’il ne pleut pas, nous mourrons de faim, s’il pleut, nous nous noierons). Ce dicton populaire reflète une réalité au Cabo Verde où il pleut à peine et quand il pleut, l’eau semble punir son peuple. Sumara Maré est un court documentaire expérimental performatif qui raconte l’histoire de cette destruction de l’environnement. Cette  performance de danse de Betty et Ondiana, mère et fille  (et la voix off de femmes qui ramassent du sable pour gagner leur vie) montre l’impact sur la nature, sur leur santé et sur l’économie.

Synopsis (EN): “Si txuba ka bem, morri di fomi, si txuba bem, morri fogadu” (if it doesn’t rain, we’ll starve, if it rains, we’ll drown). This popular saying mirrors a reality in Cabo Verde where it rarely rains and when it does the water seems to punish its people. Sumara Maré is a short performative experimental documentary that tells the story of this environmental destruction through a dance performance by Betty and Ondiana, mother and daughter, and the voice over of women who gather sand for a living – showing the impact on nature, on their health and on economy.
