Obone, doctorante en histoire, fille de la diaspora africaine, est hantée par des visions qu’elle ne comprend pas. Quand elle reconnaît dans une photo d’archive coloniale le visage qui peuple ses rêves, elle s’effondre. Médicamentée, anesthésiée, elle perd pied jusqu’à ce qu’une rencontre la mène aux Éperviers, société secrète dédiée à la récupération d’objets sacrés africains volés pendant la colonisation. Ce qu’elle prenait pour des symptômes était en réalité une mémoire ancestrale qui s’éveille. Sa mission : localiser le masque Ngil des Fang du Gabon, confisqué par l’administration coloniale française et jamais restitué.

Obone, a young woman from the African diaspora, is a rigorous history PhD student trained in Western academic frameworks. Haunted by recurring visions she cannot explain, she collapses when she recognizes a face from her dreams in a colonial archive photograph shown in class. Diagnosed with anxiety and sedated, she slowly disconnects from herself until an encounter leads her to the Éperviers, a clandestine society dedicated to recovering sacred African objects stolen during colonization. Through them, she discovers that what she thought were symptoms is actually ancestral memory awakening. Her first mission: locate the Ngil mask of the Fang people of Gabon confiscated by French colonial administration and never returned.
