Tech Sheet

Please provide the information requested in this tech sheet to tech@fifp.fr by August 20, 2025.

  1. Subtitle requirement
  2. Digital film file requirements
  3. Theatre room projector specifications
  4. Other requirements

1. SUBTITLE REQUIREMENT

Now that your film has been selected for screening, a few requirements need to be followed when submitting your film file. The most important being the subtitle requirement. If you do not meet this requirement, your film will not be screened during the Festival. Please see the following:

a) English films must contain French subtitles.

b) French films must contain English subtitles.

c) Films containing a third language (other than French or English) must contain subtitles in both French and English simultaneously on the same screen.

Example 1: If the majority of your film is in English, the subtitles for the English parts will be in French. If, however, certain portions are in German or another language, you need to ensure that those portions are properly subtitled in both French and English simultaneously.

Example 2: If your entire film is in Arabic or Swahili, then the subtitles will need to be in French and in English simultaneously.

Example 3: If your film contains a dialect that is similar to French or English such as Créole or Patois, subtitles should still be included in English and French simultaneously to better help the audience.

The subtitles need to be embedded in the film file. If you have subtitles in a separate file that are not embedded (e.g. SRT), please find a way to have them embedded. Otherwise contact us and we will see if we can offer a paid solution to have them embedded. If you do not have subtitles, you are responsible for finding a translation and subtitle service within the submission timeframe.

See below for examples of different subtitles:

2. DIGITAL FILM FILE REQUIREMENT

Please submit a digital file for your film in high definition. The following requirements need to be met:

  • File size: No larger than 10gb (files larger than 10gb will be refused)
  • File format: MP4 or MOV
  • Resolution: 1080p (1920 x 1080) or 2K (2048 x 1080) [higher resolution can cause playback issues]
  • Ensure there are no watermarks or tags on your film file
  • Ensure the audio works well in your file

Note 1: We do not accept files in DCP format.

Note 2: We will test your film files once they are downloaded and let you know if we run into any technical issues. You will have a chance to correct the issues and re-send your film file.

Send your film via WeTransfer, Vimeo (include password), Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other file sharing service. Please ensure that the parameters are set to allow us to download your film. The longer the film file is available for download, the more helpful for us. However, we understand if there is a time limit for the download link. We will try to download all files within the appropriate time frames.

3. THEATRE ROOM PROJECTOR SPECIFICATIONS

Please take into account the projector specifications when submitting your film.

  • Projector: Videoprojector, 8000 lumens, 16:1.
  • Sound configuration: 2.1 stereo.

4. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

We will be collecting your film information through FilmFreeway or Festhome. Please update the platforms as early as possible. We will be looking for the following:

  • Updated movie poster (include the FIFP laurels if you wish)
  • Movie stills (include stills from the film as well as behind the scenes, if available)
  • Updated short synopsis in French and in English
